FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Is This Game For Furries?

No, this game is for everyone that enjoys tabletop roleplay games. It has a little something in it for everyone, be it a like for Westerns, Fantasy or just roleplay. If you enjoy played Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder or any other tabletop game then you will probably enjoy WT.

Why Did you Make The Game Furry Themed?

Why not, Playing as a Human, Elf, or Dwarf all the time can get boring, and it is good to have some nice flavoring. Spoiler, humans might popup in an expansion later on. If the game does well.

Why Is The Game Set In Oregon?

They say write what you know, and I just happen to live in Oregon. The state has a fantastic history, from the Oregon trail, rich Native American history, to many Ghost Towns. I wanted to use some of the history as a backdrop for the book.

Is This Just D&D With Furries and Guns?

Western Tails is based on the D20 system, which is the same system that D&D uses, under the open gaming license. You will find that the play is kind of the same when it comes to combat, skills and spells but WT has many different features and details not found within D&D.

What Do I Need To Play The Game?

You will just need a copy of the Western Tails Core Book, ether hardback or digital copy and a set of dice. You will also need to print out a character sheet, and it would probably be good to have a miniature for your character if your GM is going to use a grid map but this might be optional. You can pick up a set of dice from most gaming stores, copy of the character sheet can be found in the back of the book or on this site and a mini can be purchased from a game store or personalized at places like HeroForge.

Is It True What They Say Online About Furries?

No, I do not even really want to have to answer this question but just no. A furry is just someone who loves animals, and enjoys imagining a world where they are an anthropomorphic version of one. to most furries they just care about their friendship, and connection to animals. They do not want to have sex with real living animals, kids or run around barking and going to the bathroom in public. Conventions are not drug and sex dens, many furry conventions have raised thousands of dollars for charities. As well, many furries are upstanding members of their local communities, holding high level jobs in healthcare, information technology, entertainment or transportation. It is just a social group, not a kink.
